Donald Trump is in the news once again post the recent meeting between him and the US Senate on June 12, 2017. The new American Health Care Act, if passed, will lead to about 13 million people losing their health insurance by 2026, estimates Trump’s administration. However, this estimate differs substantially from the one released by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The CBO estimates that more than 23 million people will lose their health insurance the American Health Care Act (AHCA) within the next 10 years!
Even though less than one thirds of Americans have supported this house bill, the Democrats have completely opposed it! Owing to this Trump was recorded saying, “No matter how good it is, we will get no obstructionist Democrat votes.”
In a meeting with Republican senators involved in drafting the Healthcare plan, President Trump said, “The Senate is working very very hard, and specifically the folks in this room, and I really appreciate what you’re doing, to come out with a bill that’s going to be a phenomenal bill for the people of this country.”
The executive vice president of Kaiser Family Foundation, Larry Levitt says “All these kinds of projections are uncertain and require lots of assumptions, so the range between what the actuary is saying and what CBO estimated is within the realm of what’s possible.” He further added that the major portion of this bill leans on how many states would burgeon the medicaid under the current situation versus the sates that would do it after the American Health Care Act 2017 passes.
A group of GOP senators are working on a plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act after the House passed their own version last month. If the Senate succeeds in approving the bill, it will need to be reconciled with the House version before both chambers vote on the final legislation.Few details are known about the Senate plan since the working group is operating in secret.
