Dirty Dancing: Cast Reveal Movie’s First Look On Social Media

Get ready to have the time of your life! The remake to one of the most popular dance movies is here again! You can call it Dirty Dancing 2.0. Though the original tops any great movie list, this one looks just as good. Starring a whole new, younger cast Dirty Dancing is on its way to waltz into your summer. And, the cast is already teasing fans with the first images of the movie on social.

Lead actors Abigail Breslin (Frances “Baby” Houseman) and Colt Prattes (Johnny Castle) are totally excited about their upcoming movie. The two shared a picture from their film, which shows them in the iconic pose that the original characters took and it brings back so much nostalgia.

Abigail Breslin shared the image through her Instagram account (abbienormal9) and captioned the image: “casually dancing around the fireplace, as one does. #sneakpeak #dirtydancing may24th @abcnetwork”. (sic)

The second image shows Abigail leaning backwards, away from her partner and is captioned: “AND just casually dippin’ around a fireplace. As one also does. #sneakpeek #dirtydancing”.

Her on-screen dance partner, Colt Prattes shared another image that shows them arm in arm in front of a live band, that he posted on his Instagram (coltprattes) that is captioned: “First shot from @dirtydancingmovie! Favorite moment of the film was dancing this number with @abienormal9. So stoked!”.

Another famous star who is also part of the movie is none other than Modern Family star Sarah Hyland, who will play Abigail’s elder sister, Lisa Houseman. She shared on her Instagram (therealsarahhyland) and captioned the image: “First look at Lisa Houseman! Many more pictures to come #dirtydancing”.

Her on-screen lover, Dom Sherwood, shared an image of a smiling Sarah Hyland with a ukulele in hand, and captioned the image: “Get ready to see this on May 24th on ABC!! Very proud of ya! Learned ukulele and everything”.

Debra Messing, famous for her role in comedy sitcom Will & Grace shared her own image. She will be playing the part of Baby and Lisa’s mom. Her image read: “FIRST LOOK pix from the “Dirty Dancing” remake. The Catskills are alive with music and *insert about 5 dancing girl emojis*”.

Messing shared about the upcoming remake of Dirty Dancing, saying, “This isn’t a replica of the original. This takes some liberties. it has the DNA of the original, but you are going to find out what happened to Baby and Johnny after the summer ended. So there’s some additional surprises in there that are new.”

“My hope is that people who loved the movie are going to be happy with all the things that are iconic with the movie, that they’ll appreciate the things that are new and modernized with this version.”

Dirty Dancing is directed by Wayne Blair and choreographed by Hamilton’s Andy Blankenbuehler. The film will release on May 24, 2017 on ABC.

The original Dirty Dancing was released back in 1987 and starred Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze. The film became an iconic movie of the ’80s, particularly with scenes like the dance sequence of Time Of My Life.
