Top Essential Oils Benefits And Uses For Beauty And Healing

A lot of stores these days stock up on what they call “essential oils”. But like so many items that are thought to be natural, some might actually be synthetically made. Before you decide to buy any essential oil, read the label carefully. Also, if the so-called essential oil is cheap, then it really isn’t the real thing. Another good indication is the way it smells. Real essential oil will have a strong, heady fragrance.

Essential oils have been around for ages now. They were, in fact, substitutes for medicines and were used by men and women for beauty purposes. A great thing about essential oils is that you can use them in little quantities and still have great results. And they have a number of uses – from calming down stress to rejuvenating the skin.

If you don’t know a lot about essential oils or if you would like more information, then read on to find out more –

Lavender

One of the most popular essential oils is lavender. The beautiful purple color and the soothing scent helps with calming the senses and aiding in a restful night’s sleep. A number of beauty products like bath salts, shower gel and shampoos have the lavender scent for a spa-like treatment. You can even apply lavender oil to get rid of stretch marks and other blemishes.

Frankincense

This essential oil was even used in Biblical times. The heady scent has a number of useful purposes, apart from the mythical banishing of evil spirits. It is known to cure respiratory ailments and heel open wounds that could turn septic on the skin.

Citrus

Who doesn’t like the smell of freshness wherever they go? Something about the citrus scent reminds you of summer, of cleanliness and uplifts the mood. Citrus essential oils can be added to your cleaning supplies, as air fresheners and even as cologne. Citrus also helps with improving the quality of your skin, so add some to your bath water for the best results.

Eucalyptus

Old libraries smell with the sweet scent of eucalyptus oil. A great part about this essential oil is that it keeps insects away that might cause old items like the pages of well-read books to keep from disintegrating. Another great benefit of eucalyptus is to prevent respiratory issues like asthma attacks.

Peppermint

This essential oil is brilliant for rejuvenating your mood. You can dab a little on your handkerchief or the corners of your clothing to get a whiff of a refreshing smell throughout the day. Peppermint oil is also good for relieving joint pains and reducing tension.

*Note: Before using any essential oil for medical reasons, please consult a qualified practitioner or medical expert.
