The trailer for the Death Note Movie just dropped ahead of its release on Netflix and it’s Spooky for sure. Death Note sure was an International Phenomenon, the story strikes to the moral sensibilities of men and how they react to power.
The movie is based on the Japanese Manga by Tsugumi Ohba with the same name and follows Light Turner, the protagonist of the series, played by Nat Wolf of the Paper Towns fame. Light finds a supernatural book that holds the power to kill anyone whose name is written in the book. Drunk with power, he begins to kill those he deems unworthy. The Movie will play into the moral ambiguity of what is right and wrong.
The trailer shows Light in a cemetery where he finds a book falling from the sky, after reading the contents of the book, Light decides to write names in the book and the next scene shows men jumping from a skyscraper. At the end of the trailer Light sees Ryuk (the owner of the book) and is seen terrified.
The popular manga was an instant hit among everyone even those who don’t follow anime and manga. The Series has since been made into a Movie and an anime series.
The Movie will start streaming from August 25, 2017 on Netflix. The Cast of the Movie includes Nat Wolf, Willem Dafoe, Shea Wingham and Lakeith Stanfield playing major roles in the Movie.
The trailer of the movie adaptation from Netflix has met with criticism from some who claim the show is “whitewashing” the original Series. It’s also the second time this week Netflix has found itself in a storm of criticism over whitewashing after the company released Iron Fist.
