Updated Trends: San Jose Chilean Miners Hopeful After The Boring Of Bigger Shaft Begins
A sigh of relief and a ray of hope came for the 33 trapped Chilean miners as the work to boar a bigger hole has begun. Although, it is going to take three to four months more, the miners have started with the countdown to be back up with their family, say officials.
The workers need to bore 700 meters deep in the earth in order to rescue the trapped miners. They have been trapped there since August 5. As of now, the miners have been surviving on the liquid diet that is being sent through the narrow holes but the rescue officials said that they would soon be sending proper food in some time.
Quality Control and Risk Manager of Geo Tech a Chilean Mining Company, Walter Herrera said that they would be bringing a special machine that will be specifically used for drilling water holes in the mine.
A team of four members from NASA are scheduled to arrive in Chile this week to give the miners physical and behavioral health support.
