Updated Trends: Archie Panjabi Was The Only British Success At The US Emmy Awards
It was a disappointing night for the British cinema at the US Emmy awards, as Archie Panjabi was the only success that the UK cinema witnessed. She won the award of the best actress in a supporting role for the US drama ‘The Good Wife’. Panjabi is well known for her good acting in movies like, East is East and Bend It Like Beckham.
An another British actress, Julia Ormond won a supporting actress trophy for her film ‘Temple Grandin’. But despite all this, big names like, Dame Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, and Michael Sheen were all missing from the awards honors.
Dame Judi and her fellow actress were nominated, but could not manage to grab the award. Panjabi, 38, gave a strong speech of thanks as she won the award and became the only Briton to win a major award at the Emmy’s. Overall it was a dissappointing year for the British cinema, but we hope next year it will be doing good and will be making a strong presence at the Emmy’s.
