James is a 17-year-old self-taught makeup artist from New York. Apparently, he has been applying makeup for just over a year, but he is so talented, he has already gained over half a million followers on his Official Instagram account, who watch his mesmerizing tutorials that are known to be over-the-top, creative and one-of-a-kind. Seriously, this kid is super talented and being brought into the limelight by one of America’s top beauty brands is probably just the beginning for him. Congratulations, James!
In the past CoverGirl has had a number of celeb beauties as their reps, including Modern Family star, Sofia Vergara, talk show host and comedienne, Ellen DeGeneres, Katy Perry, Disney star, Zendaya and a host of others. Though other beauty brands have cast males in their commercials and other promotions, this will be the first time ever that a male is officially representing a beauty brand and being their brand ambassador.
James Charles will be the face for “So Lashy”, CoverGirl’s latest mascara with full coverage. In an official statement, CoverGirl said: “All of our CoverGirls are role models and boundary-breakers, fearlessly expressing themselves, standing up for what they believe, and redefining what it means to be beautiful.”
