If you are having problems with acne-prone skin, keep in mind that some of the best acne fighters are much more accessible than you think, as they might be in your pantry. Here are 4 great at-home acne remedies.

4 At-home acne remedies

1. Aspirin – It contains salicylic acid, which is fantastic for beating acne. Try making a mask by crushing 5 to 7 tablets in some bottled water in order to create a paste. Then add one teaspoon of organic honey, mix everything and spread on your face for about 7 to 15 minutes. Keep in mind to avoid this mask if you have an aspirin allergy.

2. Milk – We all have it in our fridge. Take 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of organic honey and 3 teaspoons of milk. Mix all ingredients and then scrub on in order to exfoliate and tone your skin. The milk fat will moisturize your face and lactic acid will remove the dead skin cells that are clogging your pores. People with oily skin need to use skim or one percent milk.

3. Oatmeal – It has astringent effects and it helps in soothing your skin and cleaning up your pores. Take 3/4 cup of oatmeal and boil it with a cup of water. Cook for 1 or 2 minutes and once it cools, spread it on your face for 10 to 20 minutes.

4. Toothpaste – It is used as an acne remedy due to its active ingredient sulfur. Make sure to use it as a spot-treatment to avoid irritation and do not use those toothpastes that claim to whiten or prevent tartar, as these contain ingredients that could lead to irritation.
