A number of people in the United States suffer from nutrition related illness. The reason behind this is consumption of sodium and saturated fats in excess. Any kid of imbalance in nutrition can result in health issues. Some of the nutrients like healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants are vital for the body and lack of it can lead to a number of nutrient related health problems. Taking supplements has become common but it is also important to know the right dosage to take supplements.  Here are a few supplements that can be taken on a regular basis.

  1. Vitamin D – Vitamin D is the nutrient that can be absorbed by the skin through sunshine. It helps to keep your bones, teeth, nerves and muscles and immune system in good shape. While selecting a supplement make sure that has D3 or cholecalciferol. This kind is much better for the body to absorb when compared to D2. An average adult can take 600 IUs of vitamin D on an everyday basis.  It is better absorbed with a meal that has avocados, cheese or nut butter.
  2. Omega 3 – Omega 3 fatty acids are usually found in seafood, oils and nuts. This nutrient is essential for the brain and heart health. Supplement for Omega 3 can be found in liquid, gummies or capsule form. 1.6 grams can be consumed by men and  while women can consume 1.1 grams per day.
  3. Probiotics – The digestive tract is one of the vital organs that is responsible for the overall health. Probiotics are good for the gut flora and any kind of imbalance can  lead to a risk of inflammation and illness. The best way to consume probiotics is on an empty stomach.
  4. Turmeric – The turmeric root is a common ingredient in a number of cuisines across the globe. It has bioactive compounds known as curcumonoids. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties. If you are not including this ingredient in your diet on an everyday basis then you can indeed take a supplement. 1.4 mg per pound of the body weight is  a reasonable dosage.
