Itchiness in the eyes can be caused due to a number of problems. The condition can cause a disturbance in your everyday routine and sometimes can also affect your eye sight. Some of them can be caused due to a change in the weather, increased screen time, dry eyes where the eyes don’t get enough lubrication. If the problem is not very serious there are a few simple home remedies that can be helpful to bring some relief for itchy eyes.

1. Tea bags – Tea has tannic acid that helps to soothe itchy eyes and gives it ample lubrication. The green tea version is a better option as it contains epigallocatechin gallate that reduces the inflammation and gives instant relief. You just have to prepare a cup of tea and refrigerate the tea bags for at least 30 minutes. Make sure you squeeze out all the liquid out of it and place them on the eyes for 15 to 20 minutes.

2. Cold compress – Cold compress effect is always effective in reducing any kind of inflammation. You can use an ice pack that will help to reduce the swelling (if any) and redness and moisturize the eyes. It will also help to reduce any redness in the eyes and also helpful in treating any burning sensation.

3. Cucumber slices – Cucumber is another cool vegetable and is rich in some of the vitamins like Vitamin B6 and riboflavin. It also contains magnesium and calcium. Cucumber has high water content and is also rich in anti-oxidants. You can just keep a couple of cucumber slices on the eyes after they are kept in cold water for 15 minutes. Let them rest for at least 10 minutes or till they turn warm.

4. Cold milk – This is one of the oldest methods for itchy eyes as the cold temperature shrinks the blood vessels and soothes the eyes that ultimately reduces the irritation and itchiness.
