Hypertension of High Blood pressure is a condition that pushes the blood against the blood vessels with a force that is too high. The condition is silent but can cause damage to the body even before the body shows symptoms. It is important to treat high blood pressure at the earliest or you might end up with serious health complications. If not treated, here is what the condition can do to your body.

1. Damage the brain – Brain is one of the crucial organs of the body and needs a healthy supply of oxygen-rich blood. Condition of high blood pressure can reduce the supply of blood to the brain and this happens when an artery in the brain is clogged, leaks or tears. Loss of blood can cause problems with body language, movement vision or any other vital functions of the body.

2. Damaged arteries – Arteries are the vessels that carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body and have a smoother lining. They are strong and flexible enough to push blood through the body. Due to blood pressure, the blood pushes against the walls of the artery with an increased force that can damage the cells on the inside walls of the arteries. This can cause fatty bits to accumulate and get caught up and build up.

3. Damaged heart – The heart is a muscle and needs blood to function properly. When the blood supply is not sufficient, the heart stops working and this could lead Irregular heartbeat, chest pain and even heart attack. When the arteries are blocked, the heart has to work harder to push blood and this makes the heart larger than normal and the walls of the heart weaken. The loss of strength in the heart walls can cause heart attack.

4. Damages eyes – Hypertension for a prolonged time can also damage the eyes and causes the blood to squeeze off and damage the small blood vessels in the eyes.
