Yes, he’s back! Former professional wrestler-turned-actor, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is using his celebrity for good. His aim is the most vulnerable population in the world – the incarcerated youth of America.

The hunky actor is doing what most would think impossible. He’s trying to turn around the lives of young men in prisons through a docu-series that he produces and stars in called Rock And A Hard Place. The series will be aired on HBO and really talks serious business.

Taking inspiration from his own hard life as a young man, Dwayne Johnson is giving these men a second chance at a better life. He wants to not only give them hope for right now, but change them so they never come back to prison again. The selected youth will have to undergo a six month rigorous bootcamp in exchange for a reduced sentence.

Called the Miami-Dade County Corrections & Rehabilitation Boot Camp Program, the incarcerated youth will need to push their physical and mental limits and return, get a new lease on life. Talking about the upcoming docu-series, Dwayne Johnson said, “By the time I was 16, I had been arrested eight or nine times for a variety of things, and can relate to what these kids are going through.”

The Miami-Dade Program is one of the most reputed of its kind in the country. Using a variety of activities, it helps those undergoing the program to really cross the limits of their own mind. An alarming rate of incarcerated youth find themselves back in jail after their initial release. The program wants to make sure that they give these program participants a new lease on life.

The Program starts with the first weeks of the chosen inmates being verbally confronted and made to follow discipline that is almost military-like. They will also be evaluated psychologically and their limits will be pushed. It’s a gruelling six months, but in exchange for a reduced sentence, it’s worth a shot at a better life.

Rock And A Hard Place premieres March 27, 2017 on HBO and stars Dwayne Johnson who has also produced the docu-series.
