She is called “Posh Spice” for a reason. Victoria Beckham, pop star-turned-fashion mogul is taking her fashion sense to affordable lengths – she will be introducing a complete line sold exclusively through Target in April 2017. And not only will fashion-forward women be able to don her chic style, as the line will include clothing for the fashionable little ones!
Victoria Beckham is known for her high-end range that is fit for Fashion Weeks and donned by celebrities world over. But with her Target line, expect clothing prices to range from $6 to $70, with most of her 200 pieces being below $40. Though she is known as a style icon, she was asked why she would want to collaborate with Target and sell her label through the giant retail store. Her response, in true classy fashion was: “I have always said that the best way for me to learn about new areas is to work with an expert in that field. In order to do something well, you need to surround yourself with the right people, and the Target team members have been the right people for me. It has been such a pleasure working with their team. What they have provided me with is a really unique opportunity to connect with families across the US. I’m so excited for the months ahead, and for everyone to see the collection that I am really proud of.”
When asked about why she decided to retail clothes at affordable prices for the masses, the fashion designer and wife of David Beckham said: “For a while now, I have been thinking how great it would be to work on clothes for a customer that either doesn’t want to pay or can’t pay designer prices. I loved the idea of opening the brand to a wider audience and being able to share my vision with a broader customer base. So when Target – a company based on accessibility and inclusiveness – proposed a collaboration which combined all of these things, it was an easy decision to make.”
This will also be the 42-year-old’s first foray into children’s wear, considering she is a mother of three children in different age ranges – one an adult, two in their teens and one little girl, who is still below 10, but just as fashionable as her mother, having already attended major fashion weeks in the front row. “I think the clothes reflect just how much fun I had designing them! Being a mother has helped me understand what’s important when it comes to the category. I have had years of learning that function is just as important as form, and that children need to be able to feel comfortable and free in what they wear. For me it was really all about finding a balance between the fun elements and the real-life functionality of a garment.”
The line will be available for an extremely limited time, that is, From April 9 through to the 30th, 2017. Women’s clothing ranges from sizes XS to 3X and for girls, toddler and baby from NB to XL. They will be available in the US at all target stores and at Target.com and exclusively through Victoria Beckham’s online store, VictoriaBeckham.com for international shoppers.
