Google Pixel 2 XL launches in San Francisco, a close call with Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Apple iPhone X

Google Pixel’s latest smartphones, Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were launched in an event in San Francisco on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 and reports already suggest that the smartphones can give a tough competition to Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone X, especially when it comes to hardware and machinery. With New Age technology, Artificial Intelligence, Google Lens and Google Assistant on the go, the smartphone is truly crème de la crème in the smartphone market.

Though Apple’s Siri, Samsung’s latest addition Bixby are all artificial intelligence options, Google Assistant is nonetheless an evolved communicating mode, as it looks into the phone’s high-end hardware, software and analytics to deliver some of the best user-friendly services and stand big against the premium leading brands, Apple and Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Apple iPhone X have, however worked on their aesthetics and design with larger screen while Pixel 2 XL has an aluminium body and the usual dual colour tone on its rear.  Moreover, a lesser footprint of 143.6 x70.9 x 7.7 mm in Apple iPhone X and 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6 mm in Samsung Galaxy Note 8 as compared to Google Pixel 2 XL weighing 157.9 x 76.7 x 7.9 mm reportedly is a noteworthy observation here.

The phones weigh almost similarly too but whereas Samsung Galaxy Note 8 features the latest Android 7.11 Nougat, Google Pixel 2 XL has the Android 8 Oreo. Pixel 2 and 2 XL feature a 12.2 MP rear camera with a f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, laser autofocus as well as optical and electronic image stabilization while iPhone 8 has a 12 MP, iPhone X has a 12 MP dual rear camera same as Galaxy Note 8. The latter has an aperture of f/1.7, 2x optical zoom and comes with OIS in both the snappers, while iPhone X has OIS, 2x optical zoom and an aperture of f/1.8. Pixel phones are also high on battery, water and dust resistance as it comes with a IP67 certification.

Pixel 2XL has a bigger screen size than Pixel 2 and has no 3.5 mm headphone jack following on the trail of iPhone X. With a fast Octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, Google Pixel 2 XL is running high on hardware, software, specifications like 1440×2880-pixel resolution and even on the price. The 2XL also has a bezel-less display, much like its Apple and Samsung competitors. iPhone X, however is the most expensive among the three.

Pixel 2 XL is priced differently for both its models – the 64 GB and the 128 GB variant. Consumers will be benefitted with unlimited photo and video storage in cloud and the company is also building up on Augmented Reality (AR) features.

A close call for the three top technology brands, Apple, Samsung and Google, it is yet to see which one is tagged the best buy of the year.
