A suicide bombing on Thursday killed 17 people in Russia and left about 130 people injured, say authorities. It was a car suicide bombing that took place in the market place in north Caucasus.

Reports state that the explosion took place exactly at the entrance of the Vladikavkaz market at 11:20 am. Soon after the car bomb exploded, as many as 90 people were rushed to the hospital. There was over 40kg of explosives packed in the vehicle.

The Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin said, “The crimes like the one that was committed in the North Caucasus today are aimed at sowing enmity between our citizens. We mustn’t allow this.”

Vladikavkaz is the capital city of North Ossetia.
