Pop star Katy Perry can safely add another achievement to her resumé. The Dark Horse singer just launched her own shoe line simply called ‘Katy Perry Collections’. And as you would have it, the designs are gorgeous and completely in tone with her personal style.
In an interview as the covergirl for Footwear News, she spoke about her new business and is excited to share it with the world.
Footwear was a part of me that needed to be carefully created and developed, and I had to weigh a lot of my options. I want to learn a lot, master it and become a serious contributor to the fashion world.
To develop the shoe line, she had to collaborate with the likes of fashion powerhouse Tommy Hilfiger and Vince Camuto. She also apparently visited Italian fashion shoe factories to understand the creative process that goes into created fashion for feet. She ended up pairing up with the Global Brands Group and a former stylist to turn her fashion consciousness into wearable fashion.
Her line includes flats with bunny faces, Cuban cigar-shaped heels and designs that involved her love of outer space. She also insisted that her line be accessible to the masses, as the Global group predicted that her market would be women aged anywhere from their teens to mid ages. And her shoe range will retail from $59 to $299.
Everybody has more important things to spend their money on – whether it’s their children, or their family or their health. At the end of the day, your personality shouldn’t be so expensive to display.
A bunch of retailers are already grabbing for Katy Perry Collections. Amazon, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s and Zappo are on the list and will begin showcasing the shoe line pretty soon upon official release.
Katy Perry follows in the line of her fellow pop stars including her BFF Rihanna, who now has a successful business as part of her collaboration called Fenty x Puma.
